A Tour of the Section

One of the highlights of the section is a large life-sized mural showing
the internal organs of a planteating dinosaur.

Two models are also present showing the skull structure of Triceratops - the three horned rhino-looking dinosaur from the USA and the fearsome T. rex .

Another display shows assorted vertebral column and long bone elements. Models have also been made of two large caudal or tail vertebrae to show how large these were.

Fiber-glass models of the following dinosaurs have been put on exhibit.

  • Coelophysis
  • Triceratops
  • Barapasaurus
  • Brachiosaurus
  • Indosuchus
  • Stegosaurus


In the adjacent chamber there is also a model of Camptosaurus eating from a palm tree.

The third part of the section shows the type of plants that are found in India at the time that the dinosaurs were living so as to give an idea of the type of plants that the Indian dinosaurs may have fed upon. This excellent collection has been gifted by the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany., Lucknow and contains some excellently preserved leaves and petrified tree trunk material.
